Does someone have to have and std or sti in order for you to get one?

Yep.

Sexually transmitted infections and diseases are just like other kinds of infections and diseases. Just like you can't catch a cold from someone who doesn't have one, you can't catch an STI from someone who doesn't have one.

Well at school they kind of confused me about the way an sti could be spread. When people say you can get an sti from oral sex does that mean for example if they have herpes, would it mean they can transfer it through their sperm or if they have a sore or just from coming in contact with their skin even without a sore?
