This is NOT an "am I pregnant" question, even though it's going to sound kind of like one, because I am reasonably certain that there was minimal risk for pregnancy in this situation and with the steps I took afterward. Obviously I'll take a test nine more days (which will be fourteen days after the risk) just to make sure but anyway, I just wanted to say that pregnancy is a NON-ISSUE in this question.

So I had intercourse with my boyfriend last Sunday. We started out with me on top, but he was having a hard time getting off and I got tired so I pulled off him so we could switch positions. When I pulled off him, we saw that the condom had slipped -- it didn't come off, but it was no longer pulled down to the base of the penis and was instead hanging halfway off.

Naturally, we changed condoms -- we would have anyway even if the condom use had been perfect; I'm paranoid about pulling out and then using the same condom when going back in -- and so then he was on top. It took him a long time to finish but when he did, he ejaculated inside me (in the condom) and then pulled out. The same thing had happened -- the condom was halfway down the penis, not securely at the base. The condom never came off and I am confident no semen escaped, but just to be sure I took the morning after pill an hour and a half later.

Now, my question is -- what would cause the condoms to do that? They've never done that before. Granted, we used a different brand this time, and we have recently been using a different lube, but I'm thinking this was more due to human error than a product problem. Is there something we could have done that would have made the condoms slip downward like that?

Hi Prozac,

Was this your first time using this new brand? I'm asking because every brand is going to fit differently and it's possible this one just isn't a good fit for your boyfriend.

Yes, this was the first time. It was called Skyn but it was still latex. We normally use Trojan brand and we've never had a problem with it. So maybe we should just go back to Trojan?

Yes, I'd suggest going back to the brand you've used before. If you're still having a problem after doing that, come on back and we can troubleshoot.

Oh, and by the way -- there really is no question as to whether or not I'm pregnant now. I got my period today :)
