So I currently pay $300+ for my birth control every three months (I'm on Seasonique) The way my health insurance works is that we pay everything until we have a bill that is about $5000 dollars. So we're pretty much on our own.


My pill is getting way too expensive but it's honestly my only option. I'm not comfortable with the implant and I have tried several pills before this one. Everything else gave me emotional problems or awful migraines (which then caused emotional problems)

Now I know that the birth control mandate refers to co-pays but will it affect my birth control bill at all? I'm feeling pretty disparate.

Hi Ginseng05,

Some insurance companies wont' be switching their plans until january first, and it sounds like yours might be one of those.

I would suggest giving your insurance provider a call and asking them when the change in birth control coverage will come into effect, and how it will work.
