I've always noticed a buttery white film that sometimes forms between the inner and outer labia. Out of curiousity, what is it? Should I clean it off when I notice it, or just let it be?

Sounds like it's just smegma to me- it's not accompanied by any itching or redness, is it?

If not, then smegma's the answer. It's just dead skin cells, vaginal fluids, sweat, and dirt that accumulate in the creases of the genitals. It's not harmful, so unless it bothers you, you don't need to do anything about it. If you do want to get rid of it, you can do so just with warm water and a washcloth.
