i remember a couple years ago doing a report for school about birth control. i remember coming across a type of birth control that was in the form of a rod that was implanted into the upper arm right around the armpit area. and i think each rod made for a years worth of birth control. this is all i remember about this form of bc. i tried searching for it on yahoo but i cant find anything, as i dont know the name of it.

You're talking about Norplant, a hormonal contraceptive which consisted of six tiny plastic rods, implanted into the arm, which released hormones over time.
It's no longer on the market in the states, due to the finding of thousands of faulty implants.

That's a newer version of Norplant-esque contraception, with just the one rod. It was JUST approved for use by the FDA last month, but to my understanding, won't be available until the fall.
