my pap results came back and showeid i have hpv. im upset abt it. ive nvr had warts b4 n my life. but they want to do a colposcope. Does this mean i have high risk or low risk hpv strain?

There is a lot of really great information on these two pages that may help you to feel more at ease.
Genital warts are a healthy problem caused by HPV but not everyone with HPV gets genital warts. I was a little confused by "ive nvr had warts b4 n my life". Do you mean you don't have them now? You do have them now? Or you are worried about getting them?

Hi Alex,
Some strains of HPV produce warts, and some don't.
Did the doctor tell you that you had HPV, or that the cells were abnormal? Once they do the colposcopy your healthcare provider will have a better sense for what is going on, will discuss the results with you, and help you figure out what you need to do from here.
Not knowing what strain of HPV you're carrying, it's really not possible for us to tell you what your risk factors are.
For sure, getting news like this is scary. How can we best support you right now?

Unfortunately that's not something anyone can know for sure. Many people do clear the virus within a couple of years, but not everyone does and there's no way of knowing whether a given person has for sure.
Did the doctor tell you that you had HPV specifically?
