I apologize for the length of this post, but I need help fast! Today my boyfriend and I had sex with a spermicidal condom. It fit him snugly, and we lubricated it plenty. We left room at the tip to collect semen. Once during sex, we checked the condom and made sure it was intact. As soon as he ejaculated, I firmly held the base of the condom as he withdrew. I did not notice any fluids by the base ring. However, when he was done withdrawing, and before we removed the condom from his penis, semen had collected in the tip, but had also moved down the sides of his shaft. There were no tears or breaks. There seemed to be a slightly sticky, white substance on the condom. I don't know if it was semen or my fluids. I am so worried, freaked out and paranoid that semen could have leaked out of the bottom ring of the condom, even though he insists none did, since the ring fit him so snugly that it left and indentation on his penis. Should I be ok, or should I take EC?

I don't see anything here that suggests a condom failure. Condoms really don't leak out the bottom.

Instead, you probably just saw your own fluids and a combo of the spermicide on the condom.

Should I take EC just to be safe, or do you think I am fine? I am just concerned that since semen was around his shaft inside the condom, it could have gotten pushed down and out through the base.

I'm not concerned about that, myself.

I can't tell you whether to take EC or not, only that what you're describing doesn't sound like a condom failure to me, so it's not something I'd say seems at all necessary. But that's your call to make.

But it does sound like you might not feel so secure using condoms alone as your BC, so I would suggest thinking/talking about perhaps adding a second method.

Of course! And if you do feel like condoms alone just don't feel like enough for you, I'm happy to talk you through some other methods you could pair with condoms.
