So, today is March 1st, and my period is due on March 5th. I started spotting last night... I suppose it's spotting, anyway? It's only a very very tiny bit of pinkish blood. It was still there in the morning, but now this evening it is gone again. I think that I ovulated on either Feb. 18th or 19th.
My breasts are also a little bit swollen and painful, which is a normal PMS symptom for me, but I haven't had any cramps yet, which is kind of unusual.
I've never had spotting before a period before- could this be implantation bleeding? I can't imagine how I could be pregnant- all I did this month was have dry sex with my boyfriend once (on Feb. 10). We both had underwear and jeans on, and I wasn't on top of him when he ejaculated- the only thing that could have been there was pre, and there were no visible wet spots on even his jeans, or anything.
Did I have a risk after all? What else could cause spotting? I wouldn't be concerned about the dry sex risk normally, but the change in my usual cycle is really freaking me out.
Thanks for your help!

Oh, also, I forgot to ask- how long can sperm live in a woman's body? If we had dry sex on the 10th, and I ovulated on the 18th, is that too long? The CM that means that ovulation is approaching didn't even show up until the 15th, I think. My cycle is usually 31 days long, and this one started on Feb. 2nd.
Thanks again

Please understand that clothed dry humping simply does NOT pose ANY risk of pregnancy. Sperm and semen cannot get through layers of clothing and into a woman's uterus: they are just not that powerful, but instead, are pretty freaking delicate.

Still happy to answer the rest of your questions if you like, but really, you can be sure this isn't about pregnancy. You may just be having a lighter/earlier period, which can certainly happen sometimes and isn't anything to fret about (though if the only time it has happened was when you were worried about pregnancy, it's understandable you did!).

Oh, well, that's good [Smile] I read your pregnancy risk assessment thing, and it said that it was only a risk if it soaked through, and since I didn't see any wet marks at all, I couldn't figure out how that could have been the problem.

My other questions aren't that important then, but I was wondering what else could cause spotting like this? It definitely wasn't an early period- it only lasted 5ish hours and was VERY light, and I'm pretty sure that everything else in my cycle went normally this month. My mom said it's probably just random leaking- does that happen?
Thanks [Smile]

I talked to my boyfriend, and told him that everything should be fine, and he started saying things like "but if it does happen, you'll get an abortion, right?" and it really freaked me out. Um, I'm sorry to ask basically the same question again, but are you sure there was no risk? And, I guess, would I be likely to even be able to get pregnant on the 10th given my cycle? Maybe telling him that would reassure him...

If it matters, the spotting came back today. It's more pinkish brown now, and there seems to be more of it, but still not very much (not even close to enough to stain my underwear).

Thanks for your time :/

I you don't chart your fertility daily, we can't know about when you're fertile in your cycle. But that doesn't matter: this isn't a scenario with a risk.

However, it certainly does sound like it's time for you and your boyfriend to have a talk about how you'd both feel with an accidental pregnancy, especially if you're going to start to do things together that DO pose risks. If you're either both not on the same page, or all of this feels like too much to handle even talking about, you may want to step back from any kind of sex together for now, okay?

Thanks, I talked to my boyfriend about it, and that helped [Smile]

I am now on day 5 of weird spotting. My period was due to start today. If this *was* my period, it should be wrapping up by now, and that doesn't seem to be happening. It's still pink, and a bit heavier than when it started.
Is this my period? Does this mean that something is wrong?
