Ok this is a little embarassing. For the past few months every once and awhile I would have uncomfortably hard bowel movements and after I would notice that there is blood when I wipe - not in the stool but on the toliet paper. It stops normally right away. Tonight it happened again only this time the bleeding didn't stop right away. I'm not sure if I should be worried about this. I know they say blood in the stool is bad but this is like I've got some kind of tear so I'm not sure what the protocol is for seeking help. I don't know if it matters but I've never had anal sex, or anything up there for that matter. Thanks!

A little bit of bright red blood is nothing to worry about, particularly if you've had especially hard bowel movements.

If this is a really frequent thing, it may not be a bad plan to check with your doctor to make sure you're getting a healthy, balanced diet. Are you getting lots of fiber? Drinking plenty of water?
