Hi everyone- I had a cold sore outbreak about a month and a half ago that lasted for a good two weeks or so. It healed but the area is still red and it seems to almost appear to be a scar(it's reddened where the cold sore appeared). I know that cold sores usually don't scar but this outbreak was a bad one (because of weather and other conditions) and i was curious if it's still possible for it to be contagious? Thanks a lot

A cold sore is a strain of herpes, and like all other strains of herpes, it doesn't need to breakout to be contagious (though outbreaks are far more contagious than no outbreak). either way, it's always good to be careful.
If you are concerned about it scarring, you might want to keep the area moisturized (some folks say vitamin E helps). If the sore is pretty much gone except those red traces, i'd say a mild lotion could be helpful.
