Hi Scarleteen,
Thank you for all of your help with my decision about the nexplanon. I just have one last quick question. I know the implant is just under my skin because i can feel it easily and have also had no problems with the healing process. When I searched images on google, I noticed that a lot of the implants were near the bicep closer to the armpit in the inside of the arm. Mine is about two inches from my elbow on the inner side of my arm. I was wondering if I need to worry about the area on my upper inner arm it was placed in. I just never saw a picture of the implant as close to the elbow on the inner arm as mine was. just a minor worry, and i was scared to question my doctors work...

I can't imagine this would be a problem, but the person to ask about that would be your doctor. Did you end up calling to ask about the questions you mentioned in your last thread? I know calling a doctor can be intimidating, but they're going to be the best person to talk to about any specific procedure they've performed.

Thank you for your response. I called with my other questions, but not about this one. I went to an in network doctor and everything seemed to went fine, I just worried a tiny bit about the placement because its more towards my elbow than towards my armpit. (Still on the inside of my arm just fine though)

There's no problem with having it a bit more towards your elbow: the guidelines for practitioners state that that's where it's supposed to be. But, calling your healthcare provider to double check is the way to go, as Molias said.

Thank you for the reassurance! I will double check with my doctor on Monday as well! Also, if I can feel the implant with a really soft touch on my arm, I can be assured that it isn't too deep and working properly, right?

And with those things bein reassured, I can be confident that the implant is working and shouldn't have to worry about pregnancy especially with condoms and the implant.

I'm not aware of any data showing that the depth of the implant changes its effectiveness: the issue with it being inserted too deeply under the skin is ease of removal. If you can feel it, there's no reason to think it's not working, and combined with condoms, you're about as protected from pregnancy as you can get.
