So I finally got my period, or so I thought. For a day now it has just been brown dishcharge and occasionally a small amount of blood. My cylcle was 50 days this time. I'm afraid that this might be implantation bleeding?

Periods don't always start the same way each time. Sometimes they can start slowly, just with discharge, sometimes they start with a blast, or sometimes they start with something in between. None of these options is anything that indicates something to be concerned about.

Your period starting this way doesn't change any of what you've already discussed with folks here. [Smile]

Would you like to talk about ways, moving forward, you can manage your anxiety and reduce the likelihood of ending up in this anxious spot to begin with?

Hi Kylirb,

Some basic ways to help with anxiety can be found here: Self-Care a La Carte

Beyond that, are you looking for ways to manage or prevent anxiety around pregnancy specifically? Or are you interested in more general anxiety management?

Thanks for the link! I have trouble with both. I have major anxiety for things in my everyday life and I also have OCD which could also contribute to it. I am also extremely paranoid about pregnancy because I guess I am expected to be a good daughter. My family is very close and I wouldn't be kicked out or anything if I did get pregnant, but I would just be every disappointed if I did. Do you think I should try abstinence??

I think working on self-care is a good place to start. Are you seeing any sort of counselor or therapist who can give you tips on managing your OCD?

One thing that can be helpful, both in pregnancy related fears and other types of anxiety, to avoid feeding that anxiety. So, say you know you don't have a pregnancy risk, but you're still anxious. The best thing to do is not keep reading articles about pregnancy. Instead, do something you enjoy (or something, like homework, that needs to be done) to keep your mind from focusing in on those anxious thoughts.

As far as abstinence goes, if engaging in certain (or any) sexual behaviors is going to cause you serious anxiety (or you feel unprepared to handle any consequences of those behaviors) then by all means abstaining from it is a good option. You might find this article helpful Ready or Not? I haven't seen a therapist, but I think i will talk to my mom about getting one because I think it would really help me.
And I am also aware that I did not have any pregnancy risk, but I can't get my mind off of it, so I think it will be best for me to step away and also refrain from further sexual activity. Thank you so much for all of the help it's really making me feel much better!!

It does sound like a therapist would be a big help for you. Glad to hear you've made a decision about stepping away from sexual activity that you feel good about. [Smile]
