Hi, I'm so worried. I've been on the pill and sexually active for over a year and a half now, I've never had any problems and I've NEVER forgotten to take the pill. I've just realised now that I forgot to take the pill yesterdayn morning, I took two now. I had unprotected sex the night before last. What should I do? Should I combine the morning after pill and my own pill togerther, should I get the morning after pill today ?

Thank you

Hi Amyyy,

You did the right thing taking the forgotten pill as soon as you realized you'd forgotten it.

Forgetting one pill isn't likely to reduce your pill's effectiveness significantly and the timing of that sexual activity doesn't put you at significantly greater risk.

Here's some more information about pill-taking and when back-up birth control may be necessary. Know that emergency contraception does the same thing as your daily birth control pill, and so likely won't give you a significantly increased amount of protection from pregnancy here.

Three questions about taking the birth control pill (and plenty of answers)
