Hi,

I'm on the pill and my period normally has four to five days of bleeding.

Right now I take my last pill on Monday and begin my "period" on Thursday-Sunday.

I want to make it so I'm having my bleeding from Monday to Friday, so I want to make it so I can take my last pill on Friday.

How can I safely move my cycle?

I've heard that taking less than 21 active pills negates the effectiveness so should I be taking a few extra this cycle to move my last day to Friday?

Thanks so much [Smile]

By all means, if you're using the pill to prevent pregnancy, you never want to shorten the active pills.

You may or may not be able to change when you get your withdrawal bleed, but if you wanted to try, and you have an extra pack to borrow pills from (so that you won't shorten the active pills of the next cycle), you can certainly see if it can happen by extending your active pills in a given cycle, so you're taking your last active pill on the day you want your bleed to start (or a few days before, since it seems like that's how the placebo week has worked for you in the past).

It just may or may not accomplish that, that's all.
