Okay so I posted before that I wast ready for sex with just a condom before and I went to get the Depo shot. So now I am on Depo and still use condoms but I'm wondering is it normal to feel this safe and secure that I am not pregnant?

My bf and I put on a condom well before any genital contact occurs and when he cums he holds the tip and distances himself a good amount. So is it normal to feel this safe. I mean I look at the condom and all his fluids are there and there isnt a hole or tear or anything and I feel so great and so sure that I am not pregnant at all. Am i correct in feeling so safe and secure?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here. Are you asking if it's normal to have these feelings? Or, are you asking if it's safe to trust the contraception you're using?

I guess both... I mean i feel so right in assuming that im not pregnant so long as the condom is on before any genital contact and it does not rip or tear and safely removed am i wrong to have such an assumption?

No, you're not wrong at all, particularly since you're now using two highly effective birth control methods. [Smile]

Thank You! But is that how it usually works with a condom... lets say i was just using the condoms and i saw the same thing (no tears all safe and perfect use) is it safe to have the same assumption? I guess im still new to the whole sex activity and I guess that was my first reaction having a pregnancy phobia [Frown]

Nodding...Are you feeling more comfortable now that you've gotten the depo Provera shot, or are you still feeling as worried and panicky?

I'm not sure if you've seen this article on condoms and condom use, but reading through it might help with some of your questions and uncertainties.

Yeah I am... i guess being this comfortable is kind of scary in a weird was kind of seem that with these two methods pregnancy seems impossible which is freaky since its 99.99% with both. HOw is it that less than one women gets pregnant out of 1000? Uhm how do i interpret it the typical us the 99.55%? is that like 4 in 1000 women?

Hmmm I have and looked over it again but It doesnt say when to trust the condom ~_~" because there is always that 2%. So I guess if the condom is used perfectly then for that time only we are in the clear? And is it true condoms have tiny holes? Like Heather said in this one?

Sorry for so many questions Robin

I said that every now and then, there COULD be a tiny hole or tear. Not that condoms have tiny holes: condoms, as a rule, do not come with holes in them. They're very well-tested before they leave their manufacturer. But if stored poorly or improperly -- like with sharp things, or in the heat -- they can tear or degrade.

There is no "when to trust condoms" because...well, that's a bit of a strange framework. Condoms are as effective in perfect and typical use as they are. That amount of effectiveness either is or isn't enough for a given person. That's not really about trust so much as it is about determining what level of protection you want or need, know what I mean?

Because that's how effective that is.

And no, more like one in every 2,000.
