I started taking birth control and my boyfriend and I have been having sex without a condom for the first time over the past two to three weeks. I am generally very sore afterward, and have never experienced this soreness afterwards with a condom, unless I'd had a yeast infection.
I know I do not have a yeast infection because I have not been itchy or had cottage cheese like discharge.
I'm wondering if maybe we are not using enough lubrication while having sex. We use a water-based lube sometimes. Should we use it more often? Or should we invest in something else that's maybe oil or silicone based? Or should I contact my OB/GYN?
Thank you for the help in advance.

One of the ways a combined hormonal contraceptive works is by changing the environment of the vagina, and for many users, that means increased vaginal dryness.
So, for sure, it may be that you need to be using lube all the time and using more of it. The same lube you've used in the past that's worked for you should do just fine.
