I'm currently on the oral contraceptive "Microgynon 30ED" and have been since June 2010.
I am also taking 10mg of Amitriptyline for nerve pain each night.
I will be staying with my boyfriend soon. So I was wondering if the Amitriptyline interfere with the pill?
Thanks

HI LemonAndLimeSweets,
Based on the information we have, Amitriptyline doesn't interact with oral contraceptives. The best way to find out for sure is to talk to a pharmacist or to the doctor who prescribed the medications for you.
It's always a good idea when being prescribed a medication to make sure your doctor knows about all other medications you're taking to make sure there aren't interactions. Just a little tip.
You also always have the option of using a second method of birth control such as condoms. Condoms are also a good option as they are the only form of contraception to offer protection against STIs (sexually transmitted infections).
