I was looking at myself down there today, and I saw that my labia minora was gray, instead of pink like how it was before. I was wondering is this normal? Should I be worry about this?

To give you some history, I'm 22 year old. I had to take the planB pill around 4 or 5 times last year. But I haven't been needing to take any since December of '11. I don't like to drink water, so could the discoloration be due to lack of water in my system?

Thank you for taking the time out to read this post and answering it.

Hi dejavu013 and welcome to Scarleteen.

How long have yu noticed your labia looking different? That is, how long between the last time you looked at yourself and now?

Labia can look different throughout different parts of one's cycle, and, also, of course, in different lighting.

Staying hydrated is one of the best things any of us can do for our overall health, so if you think you're not getting enough water, having more is a good idea.

Hi Robin,

Yesterday was the first time I looked at it. Today when I looked at it again, I noticed that my left labia had a grayish edge around it, but it was on the side that is facing the vagina opening that had a lot of gray. It appears like in just one area, but it's kind of like a poach. I didn't have that same appearance on my right side, so now It's making me panic more.

I had a UTI once last year, and was given antibotics for that. & I think I might have had a yeast infection but it went away on its on. Can those factors affect my problem?

Hello dejavu013,

As Robin mentioned, your labia can change in appearance for a number of reasons. If you haven't looked at them in a while you may just be growing.

Are you experiencing any pain or swelling on the grey area of your labia?

If you don't currently have a UTI/Yeast infection I don't see how it would impact on your labia.
