Hello, I showed my friend your pregnancy scared article and I need some clarification on a question he asked me. It's about this part:
quote:
"When pregnancy occurs, it is almost always when people have genital intercourse or other very direct genital-to-genital contact and/or when someone ejaculates directly inside a vagina or unto the vulva."
It says "almost always", so does that mean there are other ways to get pregnant? I got curious too when he pointed that out so I just want some clarification on why it says "almost always". Thank you!

Hi Lustercross. The article says "almost always" because there are some less likely or less common instances when pregnancy might happen in a different way -- pregnancy can occur if someone ejaculates NEAR a vagina instead of inside it or on the vulva (near meaning on the anus, for example). There's also in vitro fertilization and other methods of working around infertility that don't involve a penis being near a vagina. Also theoretically if someone took a big blob of fresh semen and rubbed it on the vaginal opening, there's a possibility of pregnancy.

However, as I said, these other ways of getting pregnant are considerably less common. So in other words -- "almost always" means exactly that! [Smile]

Okay thank you! We were curious because we didn't want to think that it was because of crazy situations. But now I see that it's just from the same situations that I already knew about. Thank you for clarifying that for me Onionpie! [Smile]
