So, I'm going to the doc soon to see if I have irritable bowel. I usually have 1 incident of diarrhea or loose stools a day, always between 730 and 930 am. I heard diarrhea can make bc pills less effective, but I take my pill at noon, so I always get at least 19.5 hours of absorbtion before diarrhea starts. Any thoughts, facts, or words of wisdom before I go in?

Since you're taking your pill after your bouts of loose stools, your pill's effectiveness shouldn't be compromised. You can always talk to your doctor or the pharmacist that dispenses your pills though, as they'll be able to give you more in-depth information around it! [Smile]

Just FYI, with something like IBS -- which really is something quite different than diarrhea -- I'd check in with your prescribing physician with the pill and make sure they know you have IBS. Because sometimes any kind of oral medication can be an issue with IBS sufferers.

So, with this doc, just make sure you tell them you use the pill, and if you only use it as a sole method of BC, tell them that, too. Then they can help you figure if this is a sound method to stick with, or if you should use a backup or switch to a different method, like the ring or patch.
