Is waiting 14 days after a pregnancy risk to take a pregnancy test just as accurate as waiting for a missed period? If you follow all the directions on the box perfectly will 14 days be good to know with high accuracy? I want to know cause I'm worried and my period is so irregular.

Yes, the recommendation is 14 days after a risk or when a period is late, whichever comes first. So if you're not expecting your period first, 14 days after the risk will be fine.

Are those 14 days after with 100% certainty?

Pregnancy tests, like any kind of health test, aren't 100% effective taken at any time. But 14 days later tends to be a minimum, so some people who are pregnant won't test positive then, and may need another week or so until they do.

The effectiveness of a test -- including when it can be effective -- will always be printed on the test packaging.

I guess the deep down reason I'm asking is I'm still paranoid I can get pregnant by having someone else use my lube and ejaculating in/ on the container and then i used it awhile later. Are you absolutely sure this would be an impossible situation to get me pregnant. I'm just so scared. Thank you for your patience.

Yes. That is not how pregnancy happens, nor the conditions required for a pregnancy to happen.

But if *you* can't let go of those fears, your best bet is to figure out why you're having them: is it that you need to educate yourself more on how pregnancy happens? If so, cruise the site here, hit the library or talk to a healthcare provider.

Is it because you don't feel okay about something around sexual choices you're making? If not, see if you can't figure out what that is to start making choices you feel better about afterward.

Is it about having irrational fears, and is this common for you? If so, talk to a doctor.
