I feel like I'm posting a lot of questions lately, but it seems like something is always happening that I'm curious about! This isn't an urgent question at all so answer the more important ones first. [Smile]

I just got prescribed antibiotics (Bactrim) because of an ear infection. Yuck. Anyway, I'm on the pill, and I was just wondering if taking the antibiotics during a placebo week would still make them "possibly less effective"? I know that the reason for them being rendered ineffective while on antibiotics is because of either loose stools or because your liver processes the hormones less effectively, but if I'm on the placebo pills wouldn't that make a difference since they're just sugar pills? I'll definitely back up with a condom and spermicide just in case, but I was just pondering this today. [Smile]

Bactrim and other sulfa-based antibiotics have never been associated with reducing the effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
