What does it mean, specifically, that herpes and HPV can be spread through "skin to skin contact," even if condoms are used?
If a man's penis is only contacting my vagina through a barrier, and we do not have anal sex, how exactly does the virus travel? By our thighs touching? His scrotum near my vulva?
Could someone clarify please???

Those two viruses don't only affect the penis and vagina, but the scrotum and vulva and the skin around those areas as well. So, while condoms help a lot (they reduce the risk of transmission for HPV and herpes by about 70%), they don't cover all the areas where the virus can be transmitted.
Does that make sense?
