I had one ulcer on my soft palate (back of throat..) that was really painful and hard to eat with etc.... nothing else to see apart from that. Didn't feel the best either. Within four days or so it was basically gone.. Went to see doctor and he said it was just an aphthous ulcer and gave me painkillers... however since then I've been concerned that this was in fact oral herpes that I had? Ive never had a cold sore before but can oral herpes present as a single ulcer the first time you get it or is it usually lots of ulcers? Am concerned as gave my boyfriend oral sex and am worried I passed something on.

Oral herpes sores present on the lips and around them, not on the inside of the mouth.

You can rest assured that if your doctor thought this was herpes, they would have filled you in.

But just so you know, the only reliable way we know we or others do or don't have STIs is through STI tests. So, if you and your boyfriend have never had them, especially if you're not using latex barriers, you'll want to get tested soon just because it's what we need to so as part of safer sex once we're sexually active.

What you are describing is call Canker Sores and they are NOT related to herpes. Here is a link that will give you more information about them.
