I had been taking birth control for about a year, up until this past month. After my last period I stopped taking it (due to a new vow of abstinence that we've been successfully following since March).

And if I was following my pill schedule, I would have gotten my period 2 days ago. However, my normal cycle, before the pill, was much longer than the exact 28 days I witnessed on the pill. It was more like 32 days, give or take. Also, I have been getting normal period symptoms for about a week.

So I'm just wondering, in your opinion, how long should I wait until getting this checked out? I'm like, 99% sure I'm not pregnant, unless I've been pregnant since march and have had periods since. But I'm always paranoid =/

I highly, highly doubt there's any risk of pregnancy for you, especially if you've been abstinent since March. What's more likely is your body is responding to the absence of the hormones in the pill. When you go off the pill, your body can react in different ways. Since your cycle was longer before, it may very well go back to that. It will also take a few cycles for you to completely even back out.

So I wouldn't worry too much about your lack of period in this case. It'll come, and I'd just be prepared for when it does, since it may be unexpected for you.

Thanks.

Yeah, we we've definitely been abstinent since march, and even before then we used both condoms and the pill together.

So even if I miss it entirely, should I get a checkup or anything aside from a home preg test to ease my mind?
