I had sex for first time on Feb 18th and then on 19th. He used condoms both the times. I had my previous period during Jan third week. I always used to have irregular periods but never delayed by more than 12 days (35-40 days period is my usual). Now, on March 13th, it is almost 53 days since I had previous period. I suspect that I am pregnant. We are confident that there was no possibility of semen discharge entering vagina, but now we are not sure!!

What should I do? We don't want a baby now!!

What all home pregnancy kits are available in India? Which is the most reliable one? How much do they cost? Is it available in all medical shops? I reside in Chennai.

If you used condoms for all genital contact, and they did not slip or break, then you did not have a pregnancy risk.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the logistics of buying a pregnancy test in India. I'll leave a note with the other Volunteers, and also ask a friend of mine who studies in India.

In the meantime, here's an article that explains other reasons for a late period:

Thank you September, for your response. I increased weight by three kilograms in just one month! It is 55th day since my last period and it seems I am pregnant for sure. I am planning to take a home pregnancy test tomorrow and will let you know the result. I am a software engineer by profession and work in an MNC. Pregnancy at this stage will ruin my career especially as there are rumours about a lay off in my office due to the US recession. Thank God, my husband is so supportive. After the initial shock over the news, he just told "Lay off or no lay off, let us welcome our little angel". Yes, he said exactly the same words and I am so relieved. To hell with the career and I now truly wish for a positive result.

Definitely take a pregnancy test.

And just to be clear as well, increased weight is not a sign of pregnancy. There are many things that it could more likely be related to. Weight gain due to pregnancy does not typically come until much later in the game (heck, many women lose weight in the beginning or have no weight changes). So relying on that as a sign is pretty worthless. Also, some women just have long cycles. Even in women with regular cycles, you can have an occasional long cycle and not have anything wrong.

So before you are sure that you are actually pregnant, do take a test.
