Hello,
I just have a question. I have been on the pill for about a year and I have been on the pill Marvelon for about 6 months. The nurse said that with this pill I can skip my period every other month, however I have just been following the normal 28 day cycle. I am going away on vacation and I would like to postpone my period because it would be a big inconvenience right now. Can I just just start the next cycle pills and skip my period until the next cycle? Is there any problems that can arise since it will be changing my cycle? Would there be any pregnancy risk?

It wouldn't increase pregnancy risk, but you certainly may experience increased spotting and breakthrough bleeding. Also, this would mean you'd be taking three packs back to back, correct? You may want to give the nurse or a pharmacist a call to see if this is safe on your pill.

Thanks. I would just be taking two packs, I just finished my first pack and am planning to take my second. The nurse had said that doing two back to back initially would be ok, but I have just been doing one with a period break each time. Since i have been following the just one at a time cycle I was just wondering if taking two back to back would create any problems. Thanks again

Ah, my misunderstanding. If the nurse already said it was okay to skip, then you can probably go ahead. Just keep in mind that it may not eliminate ALL bleeding- you may still experience some spotting or breakthrough bleeding.
