sorry for all the questions.!

when the pill is started, does it gradually begin to work more and more, or does it suddenly work to its full effectiveness one day? since the pills contain the same level of the hormone every day, i would tend to think that they work gradually more and more until they reach their full effectiveness, but i was just wondering if this is correct.

The pill becomes effective gradually. Some manufacturers claim that the pill will provide effective pregnacy protection after taking the 7th pill. We like to recommend being on the pill for 1 full cycle before otherwise unprotected sex. This is because some pills will have undesireable side effects that may not show in 7 days. Please remember that the pill alone provides no protection against STI's.

What an odd question [Wink]

You're right in that the hormones build in your body to prevent ovulation. In that sense, that is gradual.

so, the reason that you would typically recommend the full cycle is not because it is unsafe in terms of pregnancy risk, but because if there are side effects they may show up later, causing the user to have to go off it (and thus lose that protection)? sorry about this, im just kind of unsure. my clinic told me that it was okay to consider the pill effective and safe after a week so im worried
