Hi. Hope everyone's doing good in this insane blizzard in the northeast.

I'm starting to panic here. What are the chances of going to a doctor visit and having my parents know I'm not a virgin? I'm having an annoying case of a urinary tract infection now.

Will the doctor ask? Will anything be suspected in the urine sample? What if I honestly answer him and then he leaves his office to tell my parents that? Can the doctor do such thing or not? Will they turn their back on me??

Me. 18. In NYC. Scared.

Thank You.

If you're 18, then health professionals can't legally disclose information about you to your parents without your permission. And since UTIs can have non-sexual causes, then the doctor may not even ask about your sexual history (although it's a good idea to provide that information since it can help them in diagnosis and treatment).

Do go. You don't want a kidney infection. No fun.
