Recently my vaginal area has been very itchy and sore. It hurts to walk, sit, urinate, basically it hurts all the time. And i noticed there are little white substances. I think my sister told me she has a yeast infection, is it contagious? Im kind of imbarassed to tell my mom. Do i have to see a doctor? I really dont know what to do. If i do have a yeast infection, is that really bad?

If this is the first time you've had vaginal symptoms, you should get treated by a doctor. Some women misdiagnose themselves with yeast infections, and the antifungal creams can make whatever they do have a lot worse.

So, why not just go tell your mom that you're really sore and itchy, and really need to get to the doctor? Many, many women have problems like this at some point, so she'll likely understand perfectly.

No worries. Most vaginal infections clear right up with proper treatment, yeast included. [Smile]
