I have just about had it with hormonal birth control. I've been using the Pill for YEARS and I've tried many different brands. Anyway, if I want to stop taking the pill, and condoms aren't an option, I know that I am left with less reliable methods. I don't want an IUD either. What is the truth about spermicides? Can they be as effective as condoms? Is there a particular brand that works better? what about spermicide paired with withdrawal? I don't hear much about spermicides, and would like to know more.

Spermicides are one of the least effective methods out there, and are really better suited to being used as a secondary method, rather than the only method of birth control. We have a page about them here that's a good place to start, so have a read through that and if you have any more questions, happy to talk some more.
(Can I ask, too, why condoms are not an option for you? If it's due to a latex allergy, there are plenty of non-latex condoms out there - including the female condom - so that doesn't need to be something that gets in the way of condom use.)
