My boyfriend and I are sexually active (manual sex only) and we were talking about introducing oral sex and intercourse in the future of our relationship.
We were wondering if it is necessary to get tested beforehand if neither of us has ever been sexually active with anyone else.
We plan on being safe anyway- I've had the HPV vaccine, I've been on birth control for over a year for other reasons, and we plan to use condoms as a backup method when we decide to have sex.
So, do we need to bother with the STD testing? I have heard that some STDs can be spread without direct sexual contact (herpes and HPV for example) but neither of us has ever had a cold sore and I've had the vaccine as mentioned earlier.
