I am using the pill for regulation of my period. This summer I went on a trip so i used the pill to delay my period, about a week after that my skin exploded. I had had clear skin for a long time before that. Has this happened to anyone else? I know many ppl use the pill to treat acne, but is it possible that a continual dosage could have reverse effects? Or is it just coincidence? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am on alesse if it makes any difference.

This is just a thought - I don't have solid facts or anything - but might you have been using more sunscreen on your face than usual and it got into your pores more. I guess I've never heard of the pill causing acne, so I'm looking for other factors. Or maybe just stress/excitement from the trip?
Has it gone back to normal now?

YES, altering your use f the Pill can cause you to get mORE acne.
Acne and hormones have a really strange relationship that requires a delicate balance. If it's just the right dose, the acne is kept in check. If the balance is off, you can get oily and pimply skin.
This time, you changed that balance by trying to postpone your period, and it seems your skin got a little upset about it. what you need to do is let the balance restore itself and things should clear up accordingly.

As I understand it, normal use of the pill, allowing a week off for withdrawl bleeding, will help regulate acne breakouts by regulating hormones. But what Missyj did was not to have that withdrawl bleeding week, and continuing pills with hormones into that week, basically making the hormone cycle a little wanky and throwing things off.
So if a person takes the pills as recommended, acne breakouts are likely to be controlled, but if they take the pill in a different way than suggested, it can actually help to cause breakouts.
So, if you're on 'em, take 'em like they say to.
(man, I can be long winded. )
