So I just found out that Jessica Valente, coauthor of "Yes means Yes!" is speaking at my university... and I am super excited to hear her speak.
I first learned of her after reading An Immodest Proposal here, and I absolutely loved what she had to say. I've been reading through her other books on Amazon too, and I kind of want to buy the lot of them now.
Has anyone else read her other books? Or heard her speak? If she can write the way she does I think it will be awesome to see and hear her in person. Posts: 117 | From: U.S. | Registered: Jul 2008

Just FYI, that's my written piece from that book. Jessica and Jaclyn were the editors of the book, a collection of essays from a wide array of authors. Jessica's written piece in that anthology was the great "Purely Rape: The Myth of Sexual Purity and How It reinforces Rape Culture."
That's great she's coming to your uni, and I hope you enjoy hearing her!

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought it was directly excerpted! You did a fabulous job describing it then Have you read her other books?

Yes Means Yes isn't something Jessica and Jaclyn wrote (save each of their two pieces), but edited, meaning they collected, complied and edited a whole group of pieces from various authors, including myself.
I have read two of Jessica's other books -- which are authored solely by her. If you haven't read the others or Yes Means Yes yet, I think you'll enjoy them.

Oh, well that makes sense I was reading it the first time and thought that it sounded like you, so I was a bit confused when the footnotes said it was right from the book
From what little I did read of the two that Jessica did actually write, they do sound very interesting, I'm looking forward to getting them.
