I just recently finished the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. It follows a young girl though her freshman year of high school, a year during which she is a social outcast because of calling the cops on a late-summer party (to tell you why she called the cops would spoil things but it's the heart of the book). I thought the book was extremely funny in spots, very sad in others, and ultimately quite uplifting. Anyhow, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for recommending it! That has definately made me feel better about reading it because my teacher made me choose a book off of some reading list but I was really hesitant to read it until now. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm sure I will too.

I loved that book...it dealt with teenagers in a really honest way, and sexuality also. I've read it about 8 times, and it still makes me laugh, it still makes me cry.
