I just finished reading Strong Shadows: Scenes from an Inner Coty AIDS Clninc by Abigail Zuger, M.D., last night.
This was a *fantastic* book, written as a series of memoirs by a doctor who worked the clinic for over a decade. The remembrances and cases she described were honest and personal, without being overly morose or clinical, and the book really shed light on what is going on with HIV and AIDS in an area the media very rarely represents, and with people who cannot afford the expensive drugs that middle and upper class citizens with AIDS can.
I'd highly recommend it.
