So i am 22 years old and scheduled to get my first pap smear this coming monday. it is really hard for me to know when my period is ever going to start since it has never been regular but i think it might start by then. is it still possible to get a pap even if i am on my period?

It's generally recommended that you don't get a pap during your period, as that can make it more difficult to interpret the results. But, you can phone your healthcare provider to check if you like.

What if your period will likely be ending the morning of the appointment, and the appointment is in the afternoon? (I'm on the pill so I know for a fact it'll end sometime that day, likely before the appointment, but I won't have time to shower between...)

It's best to call your healthcare provider's office and ask, really. They may not have a problem with it, but you'll have to call to make sure.

They usually recommend you get a pap when off your period simply because it makes it a bit easier on your OB whilst examining more than anything. I've had them both on and off my period, and from what my OB has told me, it's mostly an issue of menstrual fluid being "in the way" a bit for the examination, but nothing they can not work around.
