It's my senior year and I'm really having a hard time. To start, I have been accepted to the two colleges I applied for and don't know where to go. My family says they'll support me wherever I decide to go but I know they want me to go to the one here in Mississippi.
I'm not sure if I know what I even want to do anymore. As soon as I mention the college in Georgia, the smiles fade. Im my mother's only child and we're basically all we have besides my nanny (grandma) and my mom's sister. She is very protective and I understand, but I feel like
I am leaning towards this college in Georgia rather than the one here. But I dont wanna hurt anyone or regret deciding to go there rather.
I feel alone and stressed and tired. The guy I love I've pushed away. I want to open up to him and talk about how I feel but I dont know how. I would think for the amount of time we have known each other and been dating I would of been able to open up. He's basically been upset with me for putting up this wall and we havent been talking. I wanna be loved and have someone to talk about my problems with. It's like he's done fighting for us and asking me to fight for what we have now. I'm scared because the men in my life have always hurt me.
I need help with what to do or how to deal with this.

Is there one of those two things you want to talk about first?

Let's start with the college issue then? Seems a bit less complicated and like I have more of the information I'd need to talk about it.

So, let's say that your family was totally supportive of where you wanted to go no matter what, even if they might miss you (as people tend to do when young adults move into their own lives). Which one would YOU want to go to?

Okay. So, I'd lead by voicing that to your family.

You know, parents and families have growing pains when a young person really starts forming their own life, no matter what. That really is unavoidable. And people who really love you probably want you to get the best education for you that you can, and to start creating the life you really want, so probably wouldn't be feeling very good about you picking something else because of a process they're going to have to go through regardless, you know?

How about if you tell them where you'd like to go, then ask to talk with them about how to make you going further away the least painful it can be for ALL of you?

I'm about to head off for the day, so I hope it's okay if we talk more about this tomorrow and pick up with the romantic relationship question then?
