So I got the Depo Shot this morning for the first time. I was wondering how long after I recieved the shot can I start having sex and stop worrying about getting pregnant? I called the mid wife at the clinic I go to. She said I can start having sex right away! I also looked on line, but some people say 24 hours and some people say a week! I'm so confused! Please help me!

When did you get the shot in relation to your period? If it was within the first five days of your period, it will be effective within 24 hours, but if it was at any other time in your cycle, you should use a back-up method for a full week.
