But this site is just so helpful - I love it!!

For a long time now, I have been having strange pains in my right breast, to the point where it is too sore to touch, and just in the past few days, the pains have spread to under my arm. I am really worried about this, since it is only in one breast, and does not seem to be related to my period. I have mentioned this to my mother several times, especially since she had a breast cancer scare a few years back, and I am worried. She told me I was too young to worry about it (I'm 18) and that I was over-reacting and that my breasts are probably still growing, but that it really her response to anything health related that I bring up to her.

I don't seem to find any lumps in my breast, but I am still so worried that it could be cancer or something like that. Are there any other reasons for something like this to happen? This has been an ongoing thing for almost a year!

It's okay, questions are what we are here for! [Smile]

Ultimately, the very best person to bring a question like this to is your healthcare provider. I hear that you have asked your mother about it, but what about any doctors or other healthcare providers you see?

Just FYI, breast cancer does not usually present with pain: if only, it would be so much easier for people to detect that way. But this is certainly something your healthcare provider can fill you in on, too.

Thank you =)

I guess this is like most things - I am a chicken when it comes to going to the doctor. Even when it comes to doing just a yearly checkup, I am so nervous and scared to go, which I know is ridiculous. I have an appointment with my doctor this month, maybe I will bring it up to him then.

Oh, I was under the impression that it did have something to do with pain! That makes me feel a little better.

Do you like the doctor that you see for sexual and reproductive health, which breast health is part of?
