through out the day i feel depressed off & on & i feel like my friends don't like me anymore.i know my mom has depression & she takes stuff for it & ive talked to my mom about it but she thinks its just hormones but lately it seems like its gotten worse. what are the signs of depression?

There are a lot of signs of depression - it manifests differently in everyone, but a few are: lack of energy, feeling sad all the time (often with no reason you can pinpoint), sleeping difficulties, irritability, decrease in appetite or conversely an increase in food intake (eating to make yourself feel better).

If you think you're depressed, you really do need to see a counsellor. Maybe start with a school counsellor or your doctor, who can refer you to a therapist and/or prescribe medication if that seems to be necessary.
