I may have cervicitis. I thought I had [another] UTI/bladder infection, but I read up on it & recognize that I have some of the common symptoms of cervicitis. I went to PP & the doctor there gave me antibiotics to take for 3 days & then doxycycline until the bottle is empty. I understand what I need to do to get better; take the medicine. But I am such a 'fraidy cat. I HATE taking medicine; swallowing pills especially. I hate being sick. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac. I suppose this is just a venting session, but I would like to hear other people's reassurances about & experiences with cervicitis & taking doxycycline. I've never had this... infection before, nor have I taken this medicine.

I just need some peace of mind that I'm not going to die. ;/

Doxycycline is just another antibiotic: nothing scary or big or creepy. It's basic stuff. [Smile]

Looking over your post history, btw, I see lots of UTIs, some unexplained bleeding and cramping -- did you make sure to report all these things to your healthcare provider?

I ask mostly because cervicitis is usually caused by another existing genital infection (Chlamydia, HPV and herpes are common culprits, so do be sure you and your partner are current with FULL STI screenings), OR a reaction to latex or spermicides, so you'll just want to be sure you have some handle on the possible whys to be sure to preventatively take the best care of yourself from here on in.

When I went to PP, they tested me for those things. I should get the results soon. Although, my partner & I have both been tested & our results came back fine.

& thanks. I'll try to calm myself down :]
