Hey y'all,

I was just wondering, does it happen to anybody that you enjoy masturbating, you feel great while doing it, but afterwards you feel like you shouldn't have done it? Why does that happen?

Have a good one,
Leni

Some people are taught from an early age that masturbation is a dirty or sinful act because it is sexual pleasure without procreative intent. Sometimes, it is hard to unlearn these things, even if you want to -- they just stick sometimes.

If you have any deep-down moral objections or feel bad after masturbating for any reason, that is sometimes a good reason to stop, or at least stop until you are able to sort out through your moral issues and overcome those blocks.

What you're talking about is likely sexual shame.

When you grew up, what kinds of messages did you get about sex and/or self-pleasure? Were they positive or negative?

Negative messages (for example, "don't out your hands there, that's dirty") can have pretty lasting effects on people. Doesn't mean you'll always feel that way, but it can take some time to get past.

Thanks for replying
While I was growing up, I didn't get any sort of messages, positive or negative, but I guess that at church(catholic) they did say things and that's what probably left something in me.

Hello, I'm new to the boards. I just turned 17 on the 8th.

I guess the reason would be guilt. You enjoy it, but you feel guilty about doing it. Just thought I would throw in my opinion and my 1st post. :-D
