In order to use that area, you will need to drop us an email so that we can give you the password.
I ask that this forum be used somewhat sparingly. To sustain Scarleteen best and make it as useful as possible, and also to help protect us best, it is important that most of our content be publicly viewable (we also do not want to have most of our time spent emailing passwords). However, we certainly understand that there are times or topics which may make some users feel very uncomfortable about being viewable publicly, or to have Google-cached.
Some examples of situations where this new forum might be appropriate are with things like: • Discussing sexual orientation as a person in an area or community for being outed could create high risks of violence or loss, such as being in the military, or being in a very homophobic community • Discussing an abusive relationship where you have reason to believe your abuser may find your disclosures and endanger you • Discussing things like child sexual abuse, abuse from healthcare providers, or harassment on the public boards here
We will reserve the right to deny passwords to anyone at our judgment, just so you know, as we'll need to be able to do that to do our best to keep the area as private as possible. We also ask you do not ask for a password just to read other's posts: you should only ask for one if YOU need to make a topic for yourself, and when you email, please fill us in on why you feel the need for one.
This is an experiment, so we will see how it goes. We may need to make adjustments as we get used to this new area.
(As an aside, do remember that when you register, we ask you choose a handle that does NOT identify you, and do your own part to protect your privacy. In most cases, there really will be no need to use this area if you have done your own work to be anonymous. Thanks!)
