What are some awesome quotes, books, songs, or other works by LGBTQ folks from before "our" generation? So let's say, for ease of this conversation, from prior to 1985?

Okay, I'm going to go with

"I thought how unpleasant it is to be locked out; and I thought how it is worse, perhaps, to be locked in" by Virginia Woolf, and

"Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months" by Oscar Wilde. [Smile]

“In a strange room, before you are emptied for sleep, what are you. And when you are filled with sleep you never were. I don’t know what I am. I don’t know if I am or not... how often have I lain beneath rain on a strange roof, thinking of home.”
