Hints are good I reckon, if you know how to guage the reaction, and I guess react to that accordingly. I've tried dropping hints on many an occasion, and you have to know when to stop hinting if they get wierded out! It's a tricky one. Another option would be just to find out about her through mutual friends, if you've got some. Find out about her orientation and the like. Maybe better to have a bit of background knowledge before you go flying all the flags, but who am I to say. Good luck anyway, I hope you get what you're after!!

I think the question wasn't "how do you tell if someone else is bi" but was "how do I tell if I am bi?"
And while it's a complex issue, the place to start is simple: are you attracted to people of the same gender? Do you get crushes on them, want to kiss them, touch them, etc?
On the other hand, my personal theory has always been that I fall in love with a person, and their gender is irrelevent.

Please do not completely change your questions. You now have two answers, one for each of your questions, which will be very confusing for anyone reading them. Also, there will very likely be others with you concerns who will benefit from seeing the answers.
The best way to ask new, unrelated questions is to run a search, then (if you can't find your answer) post a new topic.
