So a couple months ago I told my dad that I would be moving in with my boyfriend once I turn 18 (which I will be in 3 months.) He said that is fine, as long as I don't get pregnant before I'm 20, and that if I did end up pregnant as a teen it would "be the death of me, you would literally do me in."---my father. That was the age my boyfriend and I were planning to have a baby anyway, but after a recent birth control fail I'm concerned that I'm pregnant. While I and my boyfriend would be okay with raising a child now, I'm very worried about how I would tell my father if I am, due to his previous statement. If I am pregnant, how could I go about telling him?

How many days ago was your birth control fail? What happened, if you want to talk about it.

If you are concerned that you are pregnant, you can see a doctor, or take a pregnancy test if the birth control fail was 14 days ago or more.

I think determining whether you are pregnant is the first step

Alright, so if you hadn't been using the Patch at all for a week, your protection was compromised.

How long ago was your last risk? Once it's been more than 14 days, you can go ahead and take a pregnancy test.

So let's figure that one out for sure, first, and if you should indeed be pregnant, we'll take it from there.
