I know you guys are always getting swamped with the "am I pregnant" question & I apologize ahead for adding another to the list, but I am very worried. [Frown]

So, about four months ago, in august, I had sexual intercourse. I was on birth control & he was using a condom and I got my period 2 days later & everything seemed fine. I've been having a regular period since & I'm still on birth control. However, I have been having upper abdomen pain late at night & its like a sharp pain. I started having these pains before the time I had sex, & the pain comes and goes & just recently (during finals week -- I'm a freshman in college) they came back. So, I went to my doctor and told him about what I was experiencing & he asked me was there anyway I was pregnant & of course I said no because I've been having a regular period. He thinks my pains are stress related but tested my urine and is testing my blood & stool for abnormalities. When he tested my urine, he said everything came back negative but my protein levels were a little high, so I went online & found that higher levels of protein can indicate pregnancy.

Now I'm worried that I am pregnant. If so, I would be around 16 weeks pregnant (4 months). I don't seem to be showing at all but I've heard it is common for women to not show until at least 18 weeks of pregnant. What is the probability that I am pregnant? Should I take a test? [Confused]

If you've been having normal periods for four months, you aren't pregnant.

But by all means, take a test if it would put your mind at ease.

Using condoms and the pill make you as safe as you can possibly be. Also, as you've been having periods, as BrightStar said, you can totally rule out pregnancy anyway.

Doctors have to check that we aren't pregnant very often to do certain tests or give certain treatments.
