i am 18 weeks pregnant with my second child and my husband and i are over the moon about, but i was wondering about consuming shellfish while pregnant. is it safe to eat lobster and crab while pregnant??

So long as they're not raw, not only are they fine, but they're good sources of Omega-3 fatty acids which are good for you during pregnancy.

Also, remember everything in moderation. It's probably not wise to be eating shellfish everyday, but having a serving (fully cooked, as Heather noted, and that is fresh/from someplace reputable/etc.) is generally going to be fine.

You may also want to ask your doctor or midwife about getting a list of foods to be avoided and foods that are advised. There are some lists online available as well that will give you an idea of where to start.
