My sister is pregnant, and hasn't been to see the doctor yet, she just found a week or so ago. Well, everyone is telling her she doesn't need to go to the doctor until she is 3 months along. I was just curious, shouldn't she go to the doctor just make sure everything is in working order and to get pre-natal vitamins?

Can I add a resounding "DEFINITELY". It is essential for a doctor to determine the state of mother and child, and devise a "plan" for the pregnancy. Also, if there is a problem, it is important it is detected, and if possible, treated, as early as possible. For example, ectopic pregnancies (implantation outside the uterus) is a highly dangerous condition occuring in about 2% of pregnancies. It is vital the doctor detect this before the 3-month mark, when the life of the mother will be in danger.
I am not saying this to scare you, but to emphasise how vital health care is to an expectant mother.

I tried, but apparently because I'm not a mother or never have been pregnant, I don't know what I'm talking about. I'll keep trying though, maybe if she hears it enough she will go.

She isn't a teenager though, so girlmom.com isn't exactly the place for her. Any other sites? I would point her this way but then she would read post I had written and well...

Well, I told her about hipmama.com, apparently she has no time for it. But non-the-less, being the smart cookie that I am , I bought "Breeder" which is by the makers of HipMama, and highlighted the website and put a little note in it.
Hopefully after I give the book to her she will go there and realize that she does need to see the doctor.
